People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.
Whether it is connecting to others, following your passion, reducing stress and keeping you stimulated, providing a sense of purpose or just for the absolutely fun and enjoyment we want you to know that we would love to have you join us! We can learn from each other and have fun at the same time!
The Greater Victoria Festival Society was incorporated under the Society Act on March 3, 1992.
Our purpose is to engage in any activity that is beneficial to the community as a whole. To develop and promote civic spirit and pride with the creation of festivals, parades and special events.
Two of our major events are the Island Farms Victoria Day Parade and the Island Farms Santa Light Parade. These parades bring fun and joy to the thousands of people lining Downtown Victoria streets every year. They also help in collecting the much needed food donations for the Mustard Seed Food Bank along the parade routes. During our 2018 Island Farms Victoria Day Parade the Lions Clubs of Greater Victoria will be raising funds in Celebration Square for BC Children’s Cancer Care.
We are continually looking for new and creative ideas to bring to the communities of Greater Victoria and would love your feedback!
Event Logistics Coordinator
The Event Logistics Coordinator will work with the Greater Victoria Festival Society Board members to create and manage Amazing Community events in and around Greater Victoria.
You are a leader with an eye for detail. Organization; creating schedules and working to timelines are your passion. A great team player, you can take charge and see a project through to completion.
Event Fundraising & Sponsorship Coordinator
The Event Fundraising & Sponsorship Coordinator will work with the Greater Victoria Festival Society board members to secure the funds needed to facilitate our Fabulous Community events in and around Greater Victoria!
You have a passion for fundraising and the idea of closing a deal for funds to support a great community event makes you tingly inside. Your strong interpersonal skills mean you can build relationships that will make the event a success. Attention to detail, strong writing skills and a positive can do attitude make you an ideal candidate for this important volunteer role.

Starting from manning our Info Tent, to helping with our marshalling and staging of entries, set up and take down, food coordination, ordering prizes, designing our medallions and give-aways; price quotes; working with our Chair and the City, spreadsheets and administration, Maps, Permits, Social Media, Marketing you name it!
